Kindergarten Readiness

Research shows that 90% of a child’s brain develops by age five. The years leading up to kindergarten are critical in a child’s life, and help a child build skills needed to be successful later in life. Kindergarten readiness involves more than academic indicators, and includes:

  • Social Emotional skills
  • Language skills
  • Math skills
  • Physical skills

Preparing children for kindergarten requires the whole community working together to provide experiences that help develop the brain. The Dayton Region has adopted this formula for working toward Kindergarten Readiness:
Ready Communities + Ready Schools + Ready Families = Ready Children
